This beer cake tastes incredibly fluffy, moist and soft. It is coated with a beer sugar glaze and stays fresh for a long time. In addition, you can make it easily and quickly at home. A detailed beer cake recipe with the exact quantities and step-by-step instructions can be found here at the bottom.
What beer?
You can use any beer for the cake. In the same way, for the red wine cake, you use a red wine of your taste.
I used a bright beer. Try the recipe with different types of beer. Then you will know with which kind of beer you like the cake best.
By the way, try also my Napoleon cake with beer.
Toppings
I topped my beer cake with a beer sugar glaze, similar to the vegan lemon cake – with a lemon sugar glaze. This makes it really taste like beer right after it’s made. Then over the next few days, the beer flavor fades away.
Alternatively, you can dust the cake with powdered sugar after it cools, just like the vegan applesauce cake.
Even without a topping, the cake tastes delicious, much like my strawberry chocolate muffins.
Adjust sweetness to taste
I prepared the batter less sweet. But thanks to the sugar glaze, the cake then tastes sweet enough. It is similar with the vegan coconut cake.
If you are more into very sweet cakes, you can use a little more sugar for the batter. Even if you don’t frost the beer cake and don’t sprinkle it with powdered sugar, you may want to use a larger amount of sugar.
Which baking tin?
I baked the beer cake in a round, Ø 24 cm springform tin. However, another baking tin is also suitable for this. For example, you can use a loaf tin, like for my chocolate banana bread, or a bundt pan, like for the berry quark bundt cake.
Note that you may need to adjust the amounts in the recipe, depending on the size of your baking tin. In addition, the baking time specified in the recipe can then differ greatly.
Stays fresh and delicious for long time
This beer cake tastes very fluffy and moist not only immediately after making. It also stays fresh and soft for the next few days.
Keep the cake packed airtight, for example in a lunch box, so that it does not dry out. You should store it in a cool place.

Quick beer cake recipe
The beer cake recipe, which you can find here at the end of the post in the recipe box, is very simple and quick. The moist pastry you conjure up in no time on the dining table.
First, mix flour with baking powder. Beat eggs with sugar until fluffy. At the same time, heat beer together with butter, which melts.
Add the flour mixture to the egg sugar mixture and make a sponge cake batter. Then stir the hot beer into the batter.
Now pour the batter into the baking tin and bake the cake for about 35 minutes.
When the cake has cooled down, you can coat it with the beer sugar glaze. To do this, simply mix powdered sugar with a small portion of beer.
