Honey cookies with cinnamon – simple recipe for aromatic cookies

What honey for cookies do I use?

Use a good quality aromatic honey for the cookie recipe. You can choose the type of honey according to your taste. The thicker your honey, the less flour you will need for the dough, and the fluffier the cookies will be.

Spices provide even more flavor

In addition to honey, various spices make these cookies even more flavorful. I made them with cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg.

Of course, you can use other spices of your choice instead. For example, add vanilla, cardamom or gingerbread spice to the dough.

In addition to spices, you can add lemon or orange zest to the honey pastry for more flavor.

How to shape and decorate honey cookies?

From the honey dough you can make cookies of any shape. For example, use Christmas cookie cutters. Or cut out round cookies with a drinking glass, as I did this time. You can also just cut the rolled out dough into squares and bake the cookies in the shape of square or diamond.

To give the honey pastry a shiny golden color, I brushed them with an egg before baking. With a fork I drew a nice grid pattern on their surface. But all this is not a must. The honey cookies taste delicious without any decoration.
