What would be a kebab without a delicious sauce?! I’ll show you how you can make a vegan kebab sauce yourself. You will find two delicious recipes for it, namely for the vegan garlic yogurt sauce and the red sauce.
Both sauces are ready in no time from just a few ingredients. They also go perfectly with other dishes, such as salads, bowls or falafels. Detailed vegan kebab sauce recipes with exact quantities and step-by-step instructions can be found here at the bottom.
How does kebab sauce go vegan?
You can easily make a kebab sauce vegan. This applies to both the garlic yogurt sauce and the red doner sauce. All you need for the sauce with garlic and yogurt in vegan variant is a vegan natural yogurt. I had used a soy yogurt for the kebab recipe below. But you can take just as, for example, an almond yogurt. Make sure that the yogurt does not contain sugar when you buy it.
Alternatively, you can make your own vegan natural yogurt. The rest of the ingredients you need for the garlic yogurt sauce in the recipe below are vegan anyway.
For the red sauce you need a vegan mayonnaise. So it should be without egg. You can make vegan mayonnaise yourself. Then you know what ingredients are in it.
Also in this kebab sauce recipe, the rest of the ingredients are vegan. You might want to check the ingredient list of ketchup to make sure it’s vegan. Most of the time it is, though.
Not only delicious with kebab
The vegan garlic yogurt sauce tastes delicious not only in a kebab. It is delicious with (homemade) falafels, a poke bowl, in wraps, sandwiches and various salads. You can also serve the sauce as a dip. You can also serve the red kebab sauce with other dishes. Just try it out!
Serve your homemade kebab sauce thus
- in homemade kebab,
- with falafels,
- in bowls,
- in wraps,
- in sandwiches,
- in salads,
- as a dip.
Store vegan kebab sauce
Store homemade kebab sauce in a sealable container, such as a screw-top jar, in the refrigerator. It will keep for about 3 days.
If the sauce is too thick the next day, you can dilute it with a little water.
If you want to add fresh herbs to the sauce, it is best to do it just before serving.
The homemade kebab sauce is
- vegan,
- creamy,
- delicious,
- ideal for homemade kebab,
- also delicious with other dishes,
- easy and quick to make yourself from a few ingredients.
