Modifying the quinoa patties recipe

You can modify this quinoa patties recipe to suit your taste, similar to the green lentil patties or beet patties recipe. Here are some ideas for alternative ingredients.

Vegetable stock

Vegetable stock gives the patties a hearty taste. Optionally, you can cook quinoa in salted water and then simply season the vegan fritters mixture with more spices.

Vegetables

I have mixed a coarsely grated carrot into the patties mixture, as I did with the pea fritters and the red lentil patties. Other vegetables, such as bell peppers or zucchini, are just as suitable. Just don’t use too much of it and chop it as small as possible so that the cakes don’t fall apart later.

Yeast flakes

Yeast flakes give the quinoa patties a slightly cheesy taste, just like the oatmeal patties. You can leave them out if you prefer.

Sesame seeds

Sesame seeds make the vegan fritters taste particularly nutty. Alternatively, you can use any seeds or nuts. For example, finely chopped sunflower seeds or cashews go well with them.

Spices and herbs

You can season the quinoa patties with any herbs and spices you like, just like the chickpea patties and lupin fritters. Adjust the amount to taste. I have used fresh parsley, fresh garlic, lemon juice, salt and black pepper in the recipe.

Potato starch

Potato starch binds the quinoa mixture so that the patties are easy to shape. Alternatively, you can use wheat flour, ground oat flakes or cornstarch.

Serve in a variety of ways

The quinoa patties can be served in a variety of ways, similar to the rice patties, the white cabbage patties or the buckwheat patties. They taste delicious both warm and cold.

With a side dish or vegetable salad, they are perfect as a main meal for lunch or dinner. With a dip, for example with the hummus or the zucchini caviar, you can enjoy them as a snack between meals. They are also ideal as patties for a vegan burger.
