Classic turmeric water recipe

The classic turmeric water consists of only three ingredients. They are turmeric powder, water and some cooking oil.

The preparation is lightning fast. You simply dissolve turmeric powder in lukewarm water and then add some vegetable oil. Now you can try the spicy drink.

Why use cooking oil?

Why is vegetable oil added to the drink? The healthy active ingredient curcumin contained in turmeric is fat-soluble. So in order for it to be absorbed by the body, some fat is needed.

You can use any vegetable oil for the turmeric water recipe. Ideally, it should be tasteless and odorless, just like for the baby cookies.

You can spice up the classic drink of water and turmeric powder with various ingredients.

Freshly squeezed orange and lemon juice, for example, give it a tart and aromatic note. You determine the amount according to your preferences.

Add some freshly grated ginger to give the healthy drink a spicy-hot flavor.

You can also refine the turmeric water with fresh herbs, such as peppermint.

Sweetening turmeric water

If you want to sweeten your turmeric water, you can use honey, maple syrup or agave syrup. You adjust the amount of it according to your taste.

I added agave syrup to the drink. Three tablespoons to 1.2 liters of water gave the perfect taste for me.
