  • 120 g powdered sugar
  • 75 ml orange juice freshly squeezed
  • approx. 250 g heat-treated flour (approx. 300 g for heating)
  • zest of 1 organic orange
  • 1 pinch of ground vanilla bean
  • 1 pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Spread approx. 300 g - 350 g of flour evenly and thinly on a baking sheet lined with baking paper, heat in the oven at 248 °F (120 °C) for approx. 20 minutes and leave to cool.
  • Sieve the flour and weigh out 250 g of it.
  • Beat softened butter, powdered sugar, vanilla and salt for approx. 5 minutes until light and creamy.
  • Add orange zest and orange juice and beat briefly to form a homogeneous mixture.
  • Add flour in portions and mix briefly to form a soft, sticky dough.
  • Cover and chill the edible cookie dough for approx. 30 minutes and then enjoy.

Notes

  • For the basic edible cookie dough recipe, replace the orange juice with the same amount of milk and omit the orange zest. Use toppings of your choice instead. You can find lots of ideas here in the article above.
  • You can adjust the amount of powdered sugar to taste.
  • When flour is heated, the moisture it contains evaporates, reducing its weight. Therefore, take a little more flour first and only weigh out the required portion after heating.
  • The amount of flour specified may vary. Add as much flour to the butter mixture in batches until you get a very soft, sticky dough. After chilling, it will no longer be sticky.
  • Only stir the dough briefly until it reaches a homogeneous consistency and not for too long.
