Heavenly juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside, spicy taste these oatmeal patties. Yeast flakes provide them with a slightly cheesy flavor. The oat fritters are also vegan, healthy and filling.
They are quick to make and can be served in a variety of ways. You can find a detailed vegan oatmeal patties recipe with exact quantities and step-by-step instructions at the very bottom here.
Juicy on the inside with a crunchy top layer
These vegan oatmeal patties taste really juicy on the inside. On the other hand, they are crispy on the outside. This combination of juicy and crispy at the same time makes the vegan fritters irresistibly delicious.
Refine oatmeal patties with vegetables
By the way, you can refine the oat fritters with various vegetables or use vegetable broth instead of water. Fresh carrot and bell bell pepper, for example, look very good in the vegan patties. Rasp the carrot coarsely, cut the bell bell pepper into fine cubes and mix them into the oatmeal mixture.
Do not overdo it with the amount of vegetables, so that the mass remains malleable and the oatmeal patties do not fall apart during frying.
Spices and herbs are important
To make sure your oat fritters are not bland, but flavorful and hearty, you should season them well. Just experiment with different spices and herbs of your choice. You can taste the raw oatmeal mixture while you’re at it, before forming vegan patties out of it.
I seasoned the oat fritters with paprika powder, grated nutmeg, black pepper and fresh dill. Instead of dill, parsley and spring onions, among others, go well with it. In addition, onion and garlic provide spicy flavor to the oatmeal patties.
Vegan oatmeal patties with secret ingredient yeast flakes
Yeast flakes give these vegan oatmeal patties a uniquely flavorful touch. They provide a cheesy flavor, making the fritters more flavorful and even juicier.
But if you don’t have yeast flakes at home and still want to make the patties with rolled oats without having to go shopping for it, you can of course omit the ingredient. Then just use different seasonings for more flavor.
Versatile to enjoy and filling
The oat fritters taste delicious both hot and cold and can be served in a variety of ways. In addition, rolled oats provides long-lasting satiety.
With a side dish, for example mashed potatoes, pasta, rice, buckwheat, couscous, or with a vegetable salad, the vegan fritters pass as a wholesome healthy main meal. On bread or baguette, they are perfect as a snack between meals or to take with you on the go.
