Cucumber lemonade may sound strange to some at first. But it actually tastes good. Just try the drink. It is next to flavored water or kvass a pure refreshment, but just different.

If you like your lemonade light in flavor, you should just put the cucumber puree in a strainer and drain the juice, but don’t squeeze the puree. If you want your lemonade to taste more pronounced, squeeze out the cucumber puree.

Alternatively, you can squeeze the cucumber puree well and then dilute it with more mineral water, depending on your taste. This way you get a bigger portion of lemonade.

Spice it up with any herbs

I have refined my cucumber lemonade with fresh basil. This gives it a special aroma. Plus, its already unique flavor thanks to cucumbers is enhanced with basil.

You can spice up the cucumber lemonade, just like the homemade classic lemonade, with other herbs of your choice. For example, peppermint goes very well with it.

If you want your cucumber lemonade to have a strong mint flavor, puree the herbs together with cucumber. If you prefer the drink to taste only slightly of mint, add a few fresh mint leaves to each drinking glass when serving the lemonade.

Sugar free cucumber lemonade

Your cucumber lemonade, as well as the lemon iced tea, you can also make sugar free. You then simply omit the sugar in the recipe. In this case, you do not need to cook sugar syrup, so the preparation is even faster.

You can drink the lemonade with cucumber pure, if you like. Or you can add some of a natural sweetener, such as agave syrup or maple syrup.

The cucumber lemonade recipe you’ll find here at the end of the post in the recipe box is very simple. If you want to make it sugar free on top of that, it will be ready even faster.

So first you boil sugar syrup from some water and sugar and let it cool. Omit this step if you want the drink to be sugar free.

Then you puree cucumber with basil, pass it through a sieve and catch the juice.

Now mix the cucumber juice, freshly squeezed lime juice, the sugar syrup and mineral water. Serve the homemade cucumber lemonade with ice cubes.

How to make cucumber lemonade: tips and tricks

  • Instead of making the syrup yourself, you can use ready-made sugar syrup** from the supermarket for the recipe.
  • You can adjust the amount of sugar syrup to taste, depending on how sweet you like the drink.

Cucumber lemonade with basil

Ingredients
  

  • 1 l sparkling water
  • 1 cucumber big
  • 15 basil leaves
  • juice of 1 lime freshly squeezed
  • 70 g sugar**
  • 30 ml water

to serve

  • ice cubes
  • lime slices
  • cucumber slices

Instructions
 

  • Place sugar and water in a small saucepan and bring to a bubbling boil, stirring so that the sugar dissolves before the syrup boils.
  • Take the sugar syrup off the heat and let it cool.
  • Cut cucumber into cubes and place in a blender.
  • Add basil leaves to the cucumber in the blender and puree everything.
  • Put the cucumber puree in a strainer and catch the juice.
  • Add the cucumber juice, lime juice, and the sugar syrup to a water carafe and stir.
  • Pour it with sparkling water and stir again.
  • Serve the cucumber lemonade with slices of cucumber, lime and ice cubes.
