Refreshment for warm spring days

When the rhubarb season starts, the fruity lemonade is a must on the dining table, along with the rhubarb sour cream cake, rhubarb piroshki or rhubarb pound cake. It is a pure refreshment on warm spring days.

Enjoy the rhubarb lemonade in the transitional period, before hot summer days with the classic lemonade or fancy cucumber lemonade.

Along with the lemon iced tea, kvass or flavored water, the lemonade with rhubarb is a pure fruity refreshment. And if it has to be creamy, try the Soviet milkshake.

Make syrup in advance

By the way, you can also make the rhubarb syrup in advance. When it has cooled down, pour it into a sealable glass bottle and store it in the refrigerator.

This way, you can make rhubarb soda whenever you feel like it. Simply dilute the syrup with mineral water to taste. The fruity refreshing drink is ready.

Adjust sugar amount

You can adjust the amount of sugar in the recipe as desired. Just remember that the less sugar you use, the shorter the shelf life of the rhubarb syrup. This is the same as with strawberry syrup or orange syrup.

If you want to use the syrup right away, you can reduce the amount of sugar. You can also omit sugar completely from the recipe and just cook rhubarb in water. Sweeten the lemonade to taste before serving, for example with agave syrup or maple syrup.

You can also make the rhubarb syrup with a larger amount of sugar and dilute it with more mineral water. This way you’ll have a bigger portion of soda from it.
